Apple has acquired MotionVFX, a Warsaw-based developer of plug-ins, templates, and advanced capabilities for Apple’s Final Cut Pro video editing software. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
The acquisition strengthens Apple’s position against Adobe’s Premiere Pro and Creative Cloud suite while supporting the recently launched Creator Studio subscription bundle. MotionVFX’s integration into Apple’s services ecosystem could drive subscriber growth for the $12.99 monthly bundle, which includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. Apple has expanded its services revenue from 8.5% of total revenue in 2015 to over 26% in the last fiscal year.
“We are extremely excited to share that MotionVFX is joining the Apple team to continue to empower creators and editors to do their best work,” MotionVFX said in a statement on its website. The company highlighted shared values with Apple, including “quality, ease of use, and great design.”
MotionVFX was founded in 2009. The company offers subscription packages starting at $29 per month for access to professional-grade video editing tools, graphics, and templates. Apple rarely confirms acquisitions publicly and did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment, TechCrunch reported.
