Oukitel unveiled the WP63, a ruggedized smartphone featuring a built-in electric igniter, at MWC 2026. The device targets the outdoor and emergency response markets with a specialized set of hardware features. Oukitel stated the igniter helps start fires when matches are forgotten.
The WP63 enters the market as a specialized tool for campers and emergency responders. Its integrated igniter and high-capacity battery distinguish it from standard consumer smartphones. The device prioritizes utility over conventional slimness.
The WP63 includes a 20,000mAh battery and a built-in USB-C cable for charging other devices. According to Engadget, a spokesperson demonstrated the igniter by lighting rolled-up paper, describing the process as gentle and controlled. The igniter heats up similar to car cigarette lighters from circa 1987.
The electric coil is hidden behind a protective cover at the top of the device. Users activate the igniter via a mobile application. An Oukitel spokesperson stated the igniter cannot be used to light candles.
Oukitel priced the WP63 around $500. The device measures 27mm thick. A spokesperson noted the phone’s weight could serve as a defensive tool against a bear attack.
