EA and Battlefield Studios announced on Tuesday a delay of Battlefield 6 Season 2 from January 20 to February 17, citing community feedback, while extending Season 1 through the start of the next season.

The original schedule placed Season 2’s launch on January 20, resulting in a postponement of nearly one month. This adjustment allows the developers additional time to polish and refine the content. In a blog post, EA explained, “During our ongoing development, we’ve continued to review community feedback and, in order to keep our promise, determined that our best path forward is to extend Season 1 and give ourselves extra time to further polish and refine Season 2.”

Battlefield 6 launched in October and achieved strong initial sales, moving over seven million copies within its first three days. Despite this early success, recent player input has influenced the development timeline.

Steam reviews highlight specific criticisms driving the delay. One review, marked as helpful by over 450 users, stated, “The Battle Pass is extremely predatory and very FOMO, while the season itself doesn’t give a lot to offer.” The reviewer further noted that the game features “so much FOMO stuff that it becomes more stressful than fun.” These comments reflect concerns over the Battle Pass structure and seasonal content value.

To address player engagement during the extension, Season 1 introduces the Frostfire Bonus Path. This path enables players to unlock new customization rewards by progressing through its tiers. Free rewards accompany premium options, including a Weapon Package, a Soldier Skin, and XP boosts.

The extension update, incorporating the Frostfire Bonus Path, deploys on January 20, coinciding with the original Season 1 endpoint and preceding the revised Season 2 release.
