Ubisoft shut down servers for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X for over 24 hours after a systems breach granted players more than $13 million in unauthorized in-game currency. The first-person shooter went offline following reports of hackers accessing its servers, which resulted in players receiving 2 billion R6 Credits.

Players began reporting on social media that their accounts suddenly contained rare in-game items and the additional 2 billion R6 Credits. R6 Credits, purchased with real-world money, are used for playable characters and cosmetic items; 15,000 R6 Credits cost $99.99, making 2 billion credits valued at over $13 million. Players also reported unusual in-game notifications, including messages like “What else are they hiding from us?” and lyrics to Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me.” The official Rainbow Six Siege X account stated, “The ban ticker was turned off in a past update. Any messages seen were not triggered by us.”

Ubisoft acknowledged an incident impacting the game just after 9 a.m. ET Saturday, then announced less than two hours later that both Rainbow Six Siege X and its Marketplace were shut down. The game remained offline for over 24 hours. At approximately 12:30 p.m. ET Sunday, Ubisoft announced it was rolling back the game to a previous state and performing quality control tests. The game began slowly coming back online around 7:30 p.m. ET Sunday and was declared reopened to all players two hours later.

➡️ Nobody will be banned for spending credits received. A rollback of all transactions that occurred since 11 AM (UTC time) is underway.

Players who spent the unauthorized R6 Credits will not be penalized or banned. However, all transactions occurring after 6 a.m. ET on Dec. 27 will be reversed. The Marketplace will remain closed while investigations continue. Ubisoft noted that some legitimate purchases might be temporarily affected, and these issues are expected to be corrected over the next two weeks. The status page on Rainbow Six Siege X’s official website still lists the game as down globally, with unplanned outages across all platforms.
