Can you still make a claim for the Subaru battery settlement 2024? Subaru has settled a lawsuit about battery issues in some of its models from 2015 to 2020. The problem is a glitch causing batteries to die early, leading to a class action lawsuit and a settlement from Subaru.

This settlement could mean cash reimbursements and extended warranty benefits for owners or lessees of these specific models. In this article, we simplify the details of the Subaru Battery Settlement, breaking down the jargon and guiding you on how to get what you’re entitled to.

Subaru battery settlement 2024: What is it?

The Japanese car giant, Subaru has settled a class action lawsuit over claims that some of its cars drain their batteries too quickly. This affects people who own or leased certain Subaru models from 2015 to 2020 – Outback, Forester, Legacy, WRX, and Ascent (2019-2020) – except for those in Alaska or Hawaii.

The problem is said to come from a flaw in Subaru vehicles’ electrical systems, causing batteries to die sooner than they should. The issue persists even when owners replace the battery with a similar one. People in the lawsuit argue that Subaru knew about this problem for a while, thanks to customer complaints online and an internal service bulletin. Despite knowing, Subaru allegedly didn’t warn customers about it.

How to claim your money

If you own or leased one of the affected models, you might be in line for some benefits. You don’t need to fill out a claim form to get an extended warranty; check out the link provided. But if you’re after cash reimbursement, you had to submit a valid claim by May 8, 2023. Unfortunately, that deadline has passed for the Subaru battery settlement 2024, but you can still grab those extended warranty benefits.

Who is eligible?

If you live in the continental United States, including Alaska or Hawaii, and own or leased one of the affected Subaru models, you’re part of the Settlement Class. This includes model years 2015-2020 Outback, 2015-2020 Forester, 2015-2020 Legacy, 2015-2020 WRX, and 2019-2020 Ascent. The Settlement Class doesn’t exclude military personnel stationed overseas.

In the proposed Settlement for the class action lawsuit, extended warranty services are offered for Qualifying Battery Failures experienced from the Notice date onward. It also provides cash reimbursement for battery replacements, testing and diagnosis, towing services, and reasonable costs linked to being stranded due to a Qualifying Battery Failure.
