Microsoft announced adjustments to the Windows Search Box in Windows 11 aimed at improving the search experience. Members of the Windows Insider program will begin seeing these changes today. The update is designed to streamline the user experience by reducing visual clutter on the home screen and enhancing accessibility to recent searches.
The results display will now feature larger spacing to accommodate useful metadata for search results. Users will have the option to toggle between web results, Microsoft Store results, and local results. Sponsored content will be removed from web searches, which will no longer display promotions or products at the top of the results.
These updates are part of a broader effort by Microsoft to enhance quality of life within Windows 11 following an unsuccessful initiative to integrate Copilot. Incremental updates will also include the ability to adjust the size of the Start menu. Additionally, more significant changes will introduce a system for rolling back faulty drivers.
