Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox Software, reported that a friend discovered an unannounced Google Pixel Watch 5 while scuba diving near St. Martin. Pitchford noted that the watch identified as a Google Pixel 5, which has not yet been officially announced or launched.
A friend of mine found this watch a few days ago ~underwater~ when he was scuba diving near the island of St. Martin. He noted that the reverse of the watch indicates that it is a Google Pixel 5, which has not yet been announced, let alone released. It seems to be fine. The face… pic.twitter.com/Mnenov1sFE

The watch was retrieved from underwater and is described as being in decent condition despite a drained battery; it was still able to display the time. Pitchford explained that his friend, who believes Pitchford has connections in the tech industry, reached out for assistance in returning the device to its original owner.
Pitchford later arranged for the watch’s return and shared photos showcasing “Google” and “Pixel Watch 5” printed on the back, along with information indicating a heart-rate sensor and an ultra-wideband chip. The watch’s design is similar to the bubble-style design of the Pixel Watch 4.
There is some speculation about the legitimacy of the device, with uncertainty surrounding whether it is a genuine Pixel Watch 5 or a counterfeit. Kotaku indicated that it seems improbable that Google would involve Pitchford in a leak strategy for marketing purposes.
This incident has been characterized as one of the most unusual product leaks in recent history. Google is anticipated to officially unveil the Pixel Watch 5 at its annual Pixel event scheduled for August or September.
