LG has introduced the UltraGear 25G590B, marketed as the first native 1,000Hz gaming monitor. The 24.5-inch display features a Full HD (1080p) resolution and is engineered specifically for first-person shooter games, emphasizing accurate aiming and immediate visual feedback.
The UltraGear 25G590B includes an IPS panel with a low-reflection film to minimize glare. It also incorporates ‘Motion Blur Reduction Pro’ technology to enhance clarity of fast-moving objects, facilitating better tracking of targets. LG stated, “This display provides ultra-fast visual updates, preserving the readability of in-game menus and interfaces while maintaining the crispness of both moving and stationary onscreen objects.”
Gamers can expect the monitor to go on sale in the second half of 2026, with pricing details not yet disclosed. To fully utilize the 1,000Hz refresh rate, users will need a powerful graphics processing unit (GPU) capable of sustaining over 1,000 frames per second, a requirement that may limit accessibility for many gamers.
Critics have noted that most gamers may not perceive a significant difference between 1,000Hz and the widely used 360Hz refresh rates. Additionally, the current market for high-performance GPUs may challenge many consumers due to inflated pricing. Concerns regarding the practicality of the ultra-high refresh rate for casual gaming experiences have also been raised.
AI capabilities in the monitor are designed to adjust picture settings based on the game genre, as well as to improve spatial audio experiences for compatible headsets. However, the effectiveness of LG’s motion blur reduction technology in enhancing gameplay remains to be evaluated.
Overall, the UltraGear 25G590B appears targeted at esports professionals and serious gamers, potentially positioning it as a luxury item in the gaming peripheral market.
