Project Genie is rolling out globally for all adult Google AI Ultra subscribers, after its initial debut in the United States. The service introduces a new Street View capability capable of generating interactive landscapes based on real-world locations from Google Maps, beginning with U.S. locations.
Project Genie is an AI-powered system that enables users to create explorable snow-globe environments from written prompts. Each creation lasts 60 seconds and operates at a resolution of 720p and 24 frames per second. Users can design their own worlds, complete with character descriptions, and control the camera within these spaces.

The newly introduced Street View functionality grounds these AI-generated worlds in actual imagery, incorporating real-life location photos from Google Maps. A demo showcased this feature by transforming the Golden Gate Bridge into an underwater scene. Google plans to expand the Street View capabilities to additional real-world locations over time.
Despite its innovative features, Project Genie is not classified as a game generator. Google clarified that it lacks essential game development elements such as mechanics, narrative flow, and interactive storytelling. Project Genie can generate limited 3D environments with a controllable camera attached to an avatar, but it does not encapsulate the complexities associated with traditional game creation.
