Apple is reportedly testing a new feature for Safari called “Organize Tabs,” which will debut with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. This feature will automatically organize Safari tabs but will not carry the Apple Intelligence label, despite likely utilizing some form of artificial intelligence, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Once activated, Safari users will have the option to choose between automatic and manual tab grouping. The “Organize Tabs” feature builds on the Tab Groups option introduced in Safari 15 in 2021.
In January 2024, Google launched a similar feature in Chrome called Organize Similar Tabs, which is part of its new set of generative AI features. Gurman noted that Apple has faced criticism for lagging behind competitors regarding AI-powered functionalities.
The first look at the “Organize Tabs” feature is expected to be presented at WWDC26, scheduled to start on June 8.
