Microsoft is redesigning its online meeting software, Microsoft Teams, moving the “raise hand” button from the main toolbar and enabling users to personalize their controls.
The planned update aims to address user complaints about accidental disruptions during calls. By grouping the “Raise Hand” feature under the Reactions button, Microsoft seeks to reduce mis-clicks, helping users avoid interruptions when they mean to send emoji reactions.
The redesign was announced on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap and is expected to roll out in June 2023. New features will allow users to pin, unpin, and reorder controls on the meeting toolbar.
The “Leave” button will be clearly separated on the right side of the toolbar. This change targets the common issue of users accidentally leaving calls or struggling to find the exit button at the end of meetings.
Microsoft stated that the redesign is intended to be faster and easier to use, although it may feel different at first.
