Lenovo announced its return to the gaming phone market, unveiling plans for the Legion Y70 series after a four-year hiatus. The company is teasing a launch event slated for May 2023.
The reentry comes as ASUS steps back from the gaming phone segment, providing Lenovo an opportunity to reestablish its presence. Lenovo’s last launch in this category occurred in 2022, and the company aims to capitalize on the growing demand for gaming-centric devices.
On Weibo, Lenovo hinted at the next generation of the Legion Y70, emphasizing a shift towards AI gaming. The company stated that the “entire Lenovo Legion ecosystem is assembled, ready for you to join the fight!”
A user inquired about the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor in the new device. While Lenovo did not confirm or deny this specific detail, the company promised that the upcoming phone would “live up to your expectations.”
While the recent Weibo post lacks extensive details about the new Legion Y70, it suggests that more information will be available soon. Lenovo concluded with a message: “See you in May,” indicating that the imminent launch is near.
