The SUV’s design details remain uncertain, including whether it will feature autonomous capabilities or function as a traditional vehicle. However, sources suggest that Tesla aims to incorporate a driverless option into its lineup.
The automaker previously pursued a budget electric vehicle (EV) targeting a price of $25,000 but appeared to abandon this initiative in 2024 to concentrate on robotaxi development. In early 2026, Tesla discontinued two EV models to further align its business strategy with robotics.
The potential introduction of a smaller electric SUV could signal Tesla’s desire to enhance its automotive presence following the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X.
