Apple Vision Pro will soon enhance its gaming capabilities with the introduction of a native Steam Link app for visionOS, which is currently in beta for 2D gaming. Users can access this beta by joining via TestFlight.
This development comes as part of visionOS version 26.4, which has improved video and gaming performance, positioning the Vision Pro as a viable option for media consumption. Valve, the company behind Steam, announced the availability of the Steam Link beta for visionOS, enabling users to stream games from their Steam library.
The upcoming Steam Link app will support streaming at resolutions of up to 4K and will allow users to dynamically adjust the display curve in panoramic mode. However, the app is limited to 2D streaming and currently does not support Virtual Reality content.
According to Valve, this update aims to improve network performance while expanding the gaming and video content capabilities of the Vision Pro user experience. The app is already available on other Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
Potential accessories that may enhance the Vision Pro experience include AirPods Pro 3, a dedicated aluminum dock stand, a travel case, and a battery holder with a belt clip. Users are encouraged to share their experiences with the Steam Link Beta for Vision Pro.
