Meta launched two new Ray-Ban smart glasses designed specifically for prescription wearers, featuring enhanced comfort and support for nearly all prescriptions. The glasses, priced starting at $499, will be available through optical retailers in the U.S. and select international markets beginning April 14.
The introduction of these glasses aims to serve a growing market of users who rely on all-day eyewear. Meta emphasized the personalized fit of the new models, named Blayzer and Scriber, which incorporate flexible hinges, adjustable nose pads, and adjustable temple tips to accommodate various face shapes.
In addition to the prescription-ready designs, Meta announced expanded color and lens options for its existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta frames. Color choices for Ray-Ban Meta include Shiny Transparent Peach with Transitions Brown Lenses and Shiny Transparent Grey with Transitions Sapphire Lenses. The Oakley Meta Vanguard will offer combinations such as Vanguard Black with Prizm Black Lenses.
Meta is also enhancing its smart glasses with artificial intelligence features. Users can now track nutrition hands-free by using voice commands or photos to log their meals, with the AI providing personalized insights over time. This functionality is aimed at helping users make healthier dietary choices.
Additionally, the company is introducing hands-free WhatsApp summaries within its Early Access Program. Users can request summaries of group chats or specific message details. The interactions will be processed on-device and will maintain user privacy through end-to-end encryption.
Key features being rolled out include the Neural Handwriting function, allowing users to reply to messages silently via finger writing across various platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp. This feature will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
