Apple is developing in-display camera technology for its upcoming 20th Anniversary iPhone model as it aims to compete with Huawei.

The new model is set to feature a quad-curved waterfall display that eliminates cutouts and physical buttons. This design aims to provide a seamless integration across the device, enhancing its visual appeal and functionality.

X tipster @phonefuturist reported that the iPhone 20 will include a 1.1mm frame with a rounded design to complement the quad-curve aesthetic. This upgrade signifies a potential shift in smartphone design and user interface experiences.

Early indications suggest that the iPhone 20 will incorporate an in-display camera setup, positioning Apple as a competitor to Huawei’s flagship devices. While Huawei was anticipated to be the first to implement this technology, Apple has made significant strides in development.

Reports indicate that Apple is encountering challenges in placing camera sensors under the screen, but has time to address these issues before the anticipated launch. Industry experts note that this technology could redefine smartphone capabilities.

Meanwhile, Huawei has not confirmed specific plans to counter Apple’s advancements, although it remains a key player in the mobile camera technology space. Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei, is also exploring under-display features, including 3D face recognition, for its flagship models.

The timeline for market availability of under-display camera technology remains uncertain, leaving both consumers and industry observers awaiting further developments.
