ChatGPT evolves into an office suite with new formatting blocks

A new mini editor toolbar appears when text is highlighted, allowing users to apply bold, italics, and lists without leaving the chat.

OpenAI has introduced “formatting blocks” to ChatGPT, modifying the interface to align with the layout of specific tasks.

Previously, a request for applications like email generation or blog post writing resulted in a standard text response. This new feature now automatically adapts ChatGPT’s user interface for these use cases.

The “formatting box” appears as a mini editor toolbar when text is highlighted within ChatGPT’s rich-text areas for drafting. This functionality allows users to edit text as a formatted document, similar to capabilities found in applications like Microsoft Word or Gmail, rather than as plain chat.
