Google is integrating its Nano Banana AI image editor into its Search, NotebookLM, and Photos platforms. The move follows the tool’s reception after launching last month, expanding its image-generation and editing capabilities across several pre-existing Google products.

The integration with NotebookLM introduces a significant overhaul to its Video Overviews feature. Nano Banana adds six new visual styles, including watercolor and anime, for generated content. The update also enables the editor to create contextual illustrations derived from source documents and introduces a new micro-video format called Briefs. This AI-heavy update for NotebookLM has begun its rollout to Pro users this week, with a full deployment to all users scheduled for the upcoming weeks.

For context, Video Overviews is a tool within NotebookLM designed to automatically generate explainer videos directly from user-provided documents. Its capabilities include producing narrated slideshows complete with accompanying visuals, which the new Nano Banana features are set to enhance.

Within Google Search, the integration allows users to create and edit images directly inside the official Google app. The company specified that users can deploy a chat prompt to instruct the bot, such as asking it to produce a stylized version of a pre-existing image. This functionality also permits users to capture photos directly from the Lens tool and subsequently apply edits using Nano Banana. The Search feature is currently being released in English for customers in the United States, with plans for future expansion to additional countries and languages.

Regarding the Google Photos platform, specific details about how the integration will function have not yet been released. Google stated it is bringing Nano Banana to the photo storage and organization service in “the weeks ahead” and has promised to provide more information soon.
