iPhone 17 Air to use A19 Pro with five GPU cores

The distinction lies in the GPU configuration: the A19 Pro utilized in the iPhone 17 Air will feature one less GPU core.

The iPhone 17 family is rumored to launch on September 9, with the iPhone 17 Air potentially replacing the iPhone 16 Plus due to its predecessor’s sales performance.

Speculation has emerged regarding the chipset for the iPhone 17 Air. A new rumor originating from China indicates that this model will incorporate the A19 Pro SoC. This deviates from the A19 Pro found in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. The distinction lies in the GPU configuration: the A19 Pro utilized in the iPhone 17 Air will feature one less GPU core. While the A19 Pro in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max variants will include six GPU cores, the iPhone 17 Air’s version will integrate five GPU cores.

The same source also suggests that the display quality of the iPhone 17 Air will not match that of the iPhone 17 Pro. Furthermore, the rumored thickness of the iPhone 17 Air falls within the range of 5.65mm to 5.7mm. This current information contradicts an earlier rumor from July, which posited that the iPhone 17 Air would be equipped with the standard A19 chip, mirroring the vanilla iPhone 17 model.
