Microsoft is set to enhance the security of its Teams platform with the introduction of a “Prevent Screen Capture” feature, designed to protect sensitive company information during meetings. The feature is expected to roll out in July 2025 across desktop and mobile versions of the app.

Enhanced Meeting Protection, as the feature is called, will prevent users from taking screenshots during calls by turning the meeting window black if a screen capture is attempted. This will be available on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android versions of Teams, ensuring that sensitive information is not compromised.

However, users joining a Teams call with Enhanced Meeting Protection enabled via unsupported platforms or devices will be restricted to audio-only participation. This measure is intended to prevent potential content exposure through screen capture.

While the feature is a step towards more secure video conferencing, it does not address the issue of users taking photos of their screens with smartphones. Microsoft has not specified whether the feature will be enabled by default or controlled through admin settings.

Alongside Enhanced Meeting Protection, Microsoft is also rolling out a new Migration Tool for Teams in July 2025. The current development stage of Enhanced Meeting Protection is listed as “in development,” but Microsoft has not provided further details on its progress toward the July release.
