TikTok is introducing an ad-free subscription option for users in the UK, allowing for a less disruptive experience for those willing to pay. The ad-free feature will be available to all UK users aged 18 and over and will require a monthly subscription to recover lost ad revenue.
The TikTok Ad-Free tier will cost £4 (approximately $5.40) per month. This follows a similar initiative by Meta, which rolled out an ad-free option for Facebook and Instagram users in the UK last fall, priced at £3 (approximately $4) per month.
Kris Boge, TikTok’s UK Managing Director, stated, “Choice for our community and growth for UK businesses go hand in hand on TikTok.” He emphasized that advertising on the platform currently helps many British businesses expand their customer base, boost sales, and create jobs.
The new ad-free option does not include any additional features apart from the removal of ads. As of now, there is no information regarding a similar ad-free subscription for users in the US. This announcement marks the first official launch of an ad-free experience by TikTok in an English-speaking country.
