Microsoft confirmed the shutdown of Outlook Lite on May 26, 2024, as part of a phased retirement plan for the app, reports Neowin.
The decision impacts users of Outlook Lite, which was launched in 2022 as a version of Outlook for Android devices with limited storage and in areas with slower internet connectivity. Following an announcement last year, the app was scheduled for removal from the Google Play Store in October 2025.
This shutdown comes ahead of the previously announced timeline, as Microsoft stated that existing users will lose access next month.
Microsoft advised Outlook Lite users to transition to Outlook Mobile for a secure and feature-rich email experience. Users can access their email, calendar items, and attachments by signing into Outlook Mobile.
Additionally, Outlook Lite users will receive prompts directing them to the Google Play Store to download the standard Outlook app.
