iPhone 17 Pro Max might be getting chunky

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is reportedly getting thicker, a deliberate design choice to accommodate a much larger battery and finally deliver longer-lasting power.

A recent design leak for the iPhone 17 Pro Max indicates a thicker profile, which may address user demand for improved battery life. A Weibo account, recognized for its accurate predictions, reportedly disclosed the device’s dimensions, attributing the increased thickness directly to the integration of a larger battery.

The reported dimensions suggest a deliberate engineering choice to accommodate a physically larger power cell within the device’s chassis. This design adjustment directly correlates with a longstanding consumer request for extended battery performance in iPhone models. The Weibo account’s disclosure, as reported by TheNews, cited battery size as the specific justification for the altered physical characteristics of the Pro Max variant.

This development points towards a significant design alteration for the 2025 iPhone lineup. The reported changes in the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s physical attributes, particularly its thickness, represent one of the more substantial design modifications observed in recent product cycles. This aligns with Apple’s apparent strategy to introduce notable changes across its product ecosystem, including the recently revealed iOS design at WWDC.
