OpenAI announced a new initiative on its company blog. OpenAI Academy is an educational hub designed to help the public master tools like ChatGPT and Sora. Launched this week, it’s open and free, and available to anyone with internet access.

The academy platform, launched this week, is called OpenAI Academy and includes live streams, videos, and in-person events and is designed to support AI literacy. Every user can access the platform through a sign-up process.

Users can explore a vast array of content within the OpenAI Academy. This ensures accessibility all the way from general curiosity to delving into the specifics of AI ethics and customization. Here’s what it covers:

Stay Ahead of the Curve!

Don't miss out on the latest insights, trends, and analysis in the world of data, technology, and startups. Subscribe to our newsletter and get exclusive content delivered straight to your inbox.

  • Live streams: attend events from anywhere to hear from experts and fellow enthusiasts.
  • Videos: watch tutorials and deep dives into AI use at your own pace.
  • In-person events: Sign up for hands-on workshops and seminars.

The content is designed to be open and free. OpenAI provides an educational tool created by the makers of ChatGPT to help teach right practices for using AI.

OpenAI reports that the platform will cover everything from tips to start using Sora. It will guide users through crafting storyboards to creating custom GPTs and integrating Deep Research into ChatGPT.

How better to show that AI isn’t going away than to teach everyone how to use it? If people aren’t under the hood of these tools, they don’t grasp exactly what AI enables—and what it doesn’t.

The talking heads promoting either AI’s miracle or its menace can make every stakeholder jaded, urban professionals included. Let’s see if this resource steps beyond the predictable Luddite warnings and actually gets into the nitty-gritty over AI ethics and realities.

To tech laypeople ready to dip a toe in the AI water, having a more approachable—if heady—on-ramp to its various tools and utilities will be fledgling’s salvation, by demystifying many of the capabilities.
