AMD is set to launch its new Ryzen 9 processors, the 9950X3D and 9900X3D, on March 12, 2025. This announcement follows the successful unveiling of the processors at CES 2025 in January, where AMD initially indicated the release would occur sometime in the first quarter.
AMD’s Ryzen 9 processors launch date confirmed for March 12
Leaker @harukaze5719 has confirmed the target launch date of March 12 for the new Ryzen 9 models. According to @9550pro on X, leaked pricing suggests that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D will be priced at 5599 RMB (approximately $772 USD), while the Ryzen 9 9900X3D is expected to retail for 4599 RMB (around $634 USD). These prices may vary as AMD has not yet officially confirmed them, and earlier reports indicated different pricing, with indications of $599 for the 9900X3D and $699 for the 9950X3D based on listings from Amazon and Newegg.
The Ryzen 9 9900X3D features 12 cores with a configuration of 6 cores on each chiplet (CCD), and one CCD includes an additional 64 MB L3 cache. In contrast, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D boasts 16 cores, with 8 cores per CCD, and will share identical clock speeds with its non-X3D counterpart. Both processors are designed to deliver high performance in productivity tasks and gaming, keeping pace with the latest high-end Intel CPUs.
Compatibility is another feature of the new Ryzen 9 CPUs, as they will work with all AM5 chipsets, including both the 600 and 800 series. The availability of these processors at launch remains uncertain, and consumers are encouraged to consider AMD as a strong competitor to Intel in the CPU market.
