OpenAI announced on Friday the rollout of Operator, its AI agent designed to perform tasks on behalf of users, for ChatGPT Pro subscribers in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the U.K., and additional countries.

Operator will be accessible in most locations where ChatGPT is available, excluding the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

Initially launched in January in the U.S., Operator allows users to issue commands for tasks such as booking tickets, making restaurant reservations, filing expense reports, or shopping on e-commerce platforms.

The tool is currently available exclusively to subscribers of the $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro plan and can only be accessed through a dedicated webpage. OpenAI plans to extend Operator’s availability to all ChatGPT users in the future. This AI agent operates in a separate browser window that users can control at any time.

Every question about OpenAI Operator—answered

OpenAI faces competition in the AI agent space from companies like Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit, which are developing similar technologies. However, Google’s project is still on a waitlist, Anthropic provides access through an API, and Rabbit’s agent is only available to device owners.

OpenAI tweeted, “Operator is now rolling out to Pro users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and most places ChatGPT is available. Still working on making Operator available in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein & Iceland—we’ll keep you updated!”
