Telegram data breach 2024 reminded us of a lesson that we must keep in mind all the time: Even the most secure platforms can be vulnerable to data breaches.

A staggering data breach has been unveiled through Telegram Combolists, revealing that millions of accounts have been compromised. The breach involves a massive collection of email addresses, sourced from various cybercrime channels on Telegram.

What to do if you are affected by Telegram data breach 2024?

If you have checked the Have I Been Pwned and found out that you are affected by the Telegram data breach 2024, here are some steps you can take to protect your personal information:

Change your passwords

The first thing you should do is change your passwords for any accounts that use the same email address or password as your Telegram account. Make sure to use strong, unique passwords for each account.

Enable two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring a second form of verification, such as a code sent to your phone or email.

Monitor your accounts

Keep an eye on your accounts for any suspicious activity, such as unauthorized logins or changes to your personal information.

Report the breach

If you believe your personal information has been compromised in the Telegram data breach 2024, report it to the appropriate authorities, such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or your local law enforcement agency.

Consider using a password manager

Password managers can help you generate strong, unique passwords and store them securely.

Be cautious of phishing attempts

Cybercriminals may use the stolen data to launch phishing attacks, so be cautious of any emails or messages that ask for your personal information or login credentials.

By taking these steps, you can help protect your personal information and prevent further damage from the Telegram data breach 2024.

While deleting a Telegram account won’t solve the security issue at hand, users concerned about their privacy may still choose to do so.

How big is the Telegram data leak 2024?

The Telegram data breach 2024 involves 361 million unique email addresses, many of which are new to the Have I Been Pwned data breach notification service.

The compromised data, often stolen through methods like password-stealing malware and credential stuffing attacks, has been leaked onto various Telegram cybercrime channels. These channels, used for sharing stolen information, typically feature combolists, which are lists of usernames and passwords used to gain unauthorized access to accounts.

Researchers have compiled 122 GB of this leaked data from various Telegram channels and shared it with Troy Hunt, the founder of Have I Been Pwned. Notably, 151 million of these email addresses have never been seen before on the notification service.

What is Telegram Combolist?

A Telegram Combolist refers to a large collection of email addresses or usernames paired with passwords, typically obtained from various data breaches and shared within Telegram channels.

The recent Telegram data breach 2024 incident involved the leak of 361 million unique email addresses and their corresponding passwords within Telegram groups. This data was then loaded into the Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) service, allowing users to check if their accounts were compromised.

Telegram Combolists raise concerns about online security and privacy as they can be used for credential stuffing attacks, where malicious actors try to gain unauthorized access to various online accounts using the leaked credentials.
