Suno has integrated its generative AI music capabilities into iMessage, allowing users of the latest version of the Suno iPhone app to generate 30-second music outputs directly from their messages. Users can access this feature by tapping the plus button in a chat and selecting the Suno option, where they can paste a message from a friend as a prompt and choose a genre for the generated audio.
The recipient must also have the Suno app installed to hear the generated music. This requirement may reduce the likelihood of users receiving the outputs, as it limits accessibility. Some users have expressed a preference for original voice notes over AI-generated music, indicating a general skepticism about the quality and personal value of such outputs.
Suno’s system is reportedly trained on tens of millions of tracks, which may include copyrighted works. This has raised questions regarding the legality and originality of the music being generated. Users are encouraged to consider creating personal songs through voice notes instead, as such creations may carry more meaning than the AI-generated outputs.
