Anthropic has launched a new feature called the Reflect dashboard for its AI chatbot, Claude, aimed at helping users assess their interaction time with the bot. This dashboard combines elements from Spotify Wrapped and Apple’s Screen Time, enabling users to generate a personalized report regarding their usage. It is currently accessible through the Claude web client and the desktop application.
The Reflect dashboard provides a summary of recent conversations at the top, aggregating usage data from the last month by default. Users can also view interactions from the past three, six, or twelve months. The dashboard displays metrics such as the most active day, peak hour, and total chats within the selected timeframe, along with visual representations of the data. Future updates will add a feature to track the total time spent chatting with Claude.
Users can set break reminders and time limits via the dashboard’s “Time and focus” tab. These settings can be customized independently, allowing users to dismiss reminders during active engagements. A breakdown of frequently discussed topics is also provided, showing percentages for various subjects.
In addition, the dashboard includes AI “fluency” recommendations designed to enhance user interactions based on their usage patterns. Ryn Linthicum, Anthropic’s head of wellbeing policy, stated the recommendations aim to streamline user queries without encouraging excessive usage of Claude. For example, if a user frequently re-establishes context for similar questions, the dashboard may suggest utilizing Claude’s Projects feature to group prompts together.
Reflect was developed following feedback from users expressing both optimism and anxiety about AI products. Linthicum emphasized the importance of creating a tool that helps users efficiently meet their goals while considering how to balance time spent with Claude. Anthropic is currently beta testing the Reflect dashboard, which is available to both Free and Pro/Max subscribers.
The absence of current tracking metrics stems from internal practices that prioritize user efficiency over maximizing usage time. Anthropic plans to introduce features for tracking time spent in future updates, making the dashboard more comprehensive. There are also intentions to extend the dashboard’s availability to mobile users.
