Anthropic has rolled out a significant update for its design assistant, Claude Design, two months after its preview launch. The update enhances integration with Claude Code, allowing users to start designs from a local codebase and hand off assets for programming without the need for screenshots.
Users can create and edit designs directly in Claude Code by typing /design in their terminal. The update includes a more flexible import tool capable of building design systems from GitHub and raw files. “Claude builds with your components, checks its output against your design system, and makes corrections before you see it,” Anthropic stated.
A new admin role within the app enables organizations to approve and lock edits. Additionally, a shortcut to Claude Design has been added to the sidebar of the desktop app, and users can also access it via their web browser at claude.ai/design. These changes indicate that Claude Design is transitioning out of its preview phase.
The update also synchronizes usage limits with Claude Code and other products, suggesting that most users will encounter limits less often. Anthropic claims that the tool is now more token efficient and less prone to errors. Over one million users utilized Claude Design during its first week of availability.
Meanwhile, a Washington DC resident has filed a lawsuit against Anthropic, alleging that the company misled consumers regarding the usage limits of its Max plans.
