Apple plans to launch the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The upcoming model may include a second rear camera, improved battery life, and an A20 Pro processor.
The original iPhone Air, introduced in fall 2026, has not performed well in sales, as Apple does not disclose specific figures for individual models. The device has been perceived as a precursor to a potential foldable smartphone from the company.
The rumored iPhone Air 2 reflects Apple’s intention to strengthen the ultralight smartphone segment within its product lineup. Critics noted that the single rear camera on the iPhone Air was a limitation, suggesting that enhancing its features could boost its market appeal.
This potential spring release aligns with Apple’s shifting product calendar. In recent months, the company has introduced its budget model, the iPhone 17e, in spring rather than adhering to the traditional fall announcement schedule for smartphones.
Apple has discontinued several smaller smartphone models, including the iPhone mini and iPhone SE, and the iPhone Air 2 may represent a new approach to compact devices.
