Huawei secured the second position in China’s Q3 2025 smartphone sales ranking, influenced by Nova 14 series handsets, despite an overall market decline.
Counterpoint reported a 2.7% decline in China’s smartphone sell-out share during Q3 2025 due to holiday periods and limited new phone launches. This demand is expected to increase in Q4 with the release of the iPhone 17, posing a challenge for indigenous brands.
Huawei’s year-over-year performance shows a 2.6% drop. Its sales share remains at 16.4% in the Chinese market, attributed to the Nova 14 series.
Counterpoint stated, “Huawei’s high-end Mate 70 and Pura 80 series sell-outs were weaker than predecessors, while the Nova 14 series continued to perform. However, Huawei is facing challenges as its newly launched models run on HarmonyOS NEXT, which still faces some ecosystem limitations.” Huawei aims to address these limitations with the Mate 80 series, featuring HarmonyOS 6.0.
Vivo led the market despite a 5.9% year-over-year drop. Its S30, X200, and Y300 models significantly contributed to its market share. Xiaomi achieved the third position, reporting a 1.1% annual increase and holding a 16.2% market share.
OPPO ranked fourth, experiencing a positive growth of 2.1% and accounting for 15.4% of the market. Honor placed fifth, with an 8.1% year-over-year drop, though its X70 series gained traction in the entry-level market due to its 8300mAh battery.
