WhatsApp is developing a “Channel Quiz” feature, spotted in the Android beta version 2.25.30.5, to allow channel administrators to create knowledge-based tests, thereby introducing a new form of user interaction within its platform.
The feature was identified by the tracking entity WABetaInfo following an update to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android. This development aims to provide channel administrators with a tool that differs from the existing poll function. While polls gather opinions, the quiz feature is designed specifically to test

the knowledge of channel members on a given topic. The stated goal is to increase engagement by fostering what is described as “friendly competition” among users. For instance, an administrator of a channel dedicated to automotive news could use the feature to quiz members on historical facts, such as the name of the first car powered by gasoline. This offers a more structured and interactive experience compared to open-ended discussions or simple polling.
The creation process for a quiz, as detailed by screenshots shared by the feature tracker, begins within the chat window’s attachment menu. An administrator would select a new quiz option, which then opens a dedicated “create quiz” interface. This screen prompts the admin to input a question into a primary text field. Below the question field, there are spaces to enter multiple answer choices. The provided visual evidence indicates that administrators can add at least five distinct options for each quiz. The platform is expected to support both text-based answers and the use of images as answer options, granting more flexibility in how questions are presented to the channel audience. This dual-format capability allows for more visual or context-dependent questions.
Once an administrator finalizes and posts the quiz, it appears within the channel feed as a standard message card. Both channel members and, according to WABetaInfo, non-member visitors to the channel can participate. Interaction is facilitated by a “check mark” icon located to the left of each potential answer. A user submits their choice by tapping the check mark corresponding to their selected option. A key element of the feature’s design is the immediate feedback mechanism. Upon a user making a selection, the quiz card will instantly update to reveal and highlight the correct answer to the question, providing an educational resolution for all participants in real-time. This ensures that the quiz serves as a learning tool as well as an engagement activity.
The Channel Quiz feature is currently in a developmental stage and is not yet available to the general user base. It is undergoing testing and scrutiny by participants in the WhatsApp beta program. The feedback gathered during this beta phase will be used for further refinement of the feature’s functionality and user interface. According to the report, WhatsApp plans to incorporate the finalized quiz capability into a future public update of the application. The company has not officially announced a specific timeline for this wide release, indicating that the rollout is contingent upon the successful completion of the ongoing testing period.
