Huawei patents AI model designed to predict user needs

The technology could enhance Huawei’s Celia assistant by answering questions from minimal prompts and reducing response times.

Huawei has filed a patent application for an artificial intelligence model that aims to predict user requirements in advance. The patent, titled “A model interaction method, device, electronic device, and interaction system,” details a technology intended to create a more proactive and intuitive user experience.

How the AI model works

The core function of the AI model is to understand an individual’s behavior and habits to anticipate their needs. According to the patent application, electronic devices with this technology would automatically forecast a user’s intent based on the content being displayed on the screen. The system is designed to interpret a user’s underlying question from minimal text prompts, reducing the need for a full description.

This approach would allow the AI to understand user queries with greater context and less direct input, simplifying the communication between the device owner and the large language model (LLM). While not explicitly confirmed in the filing, this technology could potentially be integrated into Huawei’s existing AI assistant, Celia.

It remains unconfirmed whether Huawei will deploy this technology in its high-end smartphones, personal computers, or other future products.

A patent application does not confirm the current existence of a technology or guarantee its eventual implementation in commercially available devices.
