ChatGPT passed an MBA Exam revealed by Professor Christian Terwiesch at the University of Pennsylvania. The professor shared a brief report on the AI chatbot’s score and pointed out which parameters it successfully completed.

Terwiesch prepared a research paper entitled “Would Chat GPT3 Get a Wharton MBA? A Prediction Base on Its Performance in the Opearints Management Course,” and his curiosity birthed an incredible truth about ChatGPT’s current abilities. According to the professor, ChatGPT scored between a B- and B on the exam. The AI bot’s strong and weak sides were also discussed in the paper. Even though ChatGPT passed an MBA Exam, there are still certain points that the team behind it should work on.

Five exam questions were asked to the bot, and the professor didn’t make any adjustments for it to understand the questions better. Everything was prepared exactly as the human environment. Terwiesch gave certain aspects needed to succeed in the exam, and the first one happened to be process analysis. The professor tested if the AI bot could solve a problem using the right academic concept, which in this case, is the concept of a bottleneck. ChatGPT aced the question and got an A+ from the professor.

The exam continued with different concepts of questions varying between inventory turns, complex process analysis, Toyota production system, and queueing analysis. A grand total of seven questions were asked, and despite making an excellent start to the test, observations showed that it had some difficulties with some of the concepts above. However, Professor Terwiesch was satisfied with ChatGPT’s answers. “The previous pages should convince even a skeptical reader that Chat GPT has remarkable skills in handling problems as used extensively in the training and testing of our MBA students,” he said.

On top of its impressive problem-solving skills, ChatGPT generated a couple of automated questions. “After exploring to what extent my students might be better off with this technology, I also wanted to find out if I, as a professor and author, could take advantage of it,” the professor began the second section of his research paper. The bot could generate decent questions and be used to help teachers and professors as much as students.

“ChatGPT passed an MBA Exam” headlines are now all over the internet, but in the future, this might sound normal as artificial intelligence will grow in the near future.
