Daniel Kjellen, CEO of Tink

What is Tink’s mission statement?

Personal finance is generally something that people find boring, time consuming and stressful. We remove the hassle from managing your personal finances and makes it smart, fun and actionable to keep track of your money. We want to make it easier for people to spend money on the things that that are valuable to them. Make our money work for us and make use of our data instead of just being transactions on a bank statement that we don’t relate to.

Where are you headquartered right now, and what are the pros and cons of operating there compared to other locations?

We have our team in Stockholm, Sweden. The fintech scene in Sweden is thriving and it is a very interest place right now with a growing community. One of the great things with Sweden is that has a history of many leading tech companies and it has created a culture of innovation and raised a great pool of talents. More recently we have very successful companies such as Spotify, King, Mojang and Klarna who has become inspiring role models and anchor of the ecosystem. I guess the cons is that we are a rather small country with only 9 million people. Though, the good thing with that is the Swedish startups from day one have to look outside to scale its business.

Who do you think will be the most influential figures (or companies) in Fintech, in 2015?

The consumer will finally be the most important figure in Finance in 2015.

What kind of year do you foresee for your company, and the industry as a whole?

We think that barriers-to-entry are continuing to break down as well as old-fashion oligopolies. We will see more companies challenging current structures and finding new ways to create true customer value where the customer actually can be in the driving seat.

What are your key targets for 2015?

We are all about unlocking the power of your financial data and we will continue to develop our product in the direction that creates most value for the users. So main focus for 2015 is to continue to growth and create a great product.

What will be the most important opportunities for FinTech in 2015?

Companies that will be able to build outstanding products with sole focus on creating value for the end-user will be winners in 2015.

What are the key hurdles for growing your business this year?

Nothing is more important than your team, so finding great talents and make most of the team is our priorities.
