X will launch a “Starterpacks” feature, allowing users to discover accounts based on interest categories. The company’s head of product, Nikita Bier, announced the upcoming feature in a post Wednesday, January 21, 2026, stating that the lists were compiled internally over several months.

Starterpacks aim to connect users with accounts in various fields, including News, Politics, Fashion, Technology, Business & Finance, Health & Fitness, Gaming, and Stocks. Unlike Bluesky’s user-generated “Starter Packs,” X’s lists derive from internal data identifying “top posters in every niche and country.”

Bier stated the Starterpacks will roll out to all X users in the coming weeks. X previously offered suggested user lists since its inception as Twitter; an editorially curated list in 2010 was replaced by an algorithmically determined system following user feedback about popularity boosts.

Other platforms have adopted similar features; Meta’s Threads began testing user-curated suggested user lists in December 2024, displayed during onboarding and in the “For You” feed. Mastodon has also developed “Packs” for user onboarding.
