Samsung resurrects the Galaxy A77 to fill the gap it created 3 years ago

This marks the first potential release in the A7x line since Samsung killed it in 2022.

An X user has spotted a prototype of the Galaxy A77 in the Geekbench database, signaling the revival of its Galaxy A7x series after the A73’s 2022 launch left the line inactive.

The Galaxy A73 marked Samsung’s final release in the A7x segment in 2022, following which the company discontinued updates to this portion of its A series. Recent activity indicates preparation for the Galaxy A77’s introduction, with the prototype appearing in the Geekbench online database. This device features 8 GB of RAM and runs Android 16, positioning it as an upper-midrange option within Samsung’s portfolio.

The prototype’s chipset draws from Samsung’s Exynos 2400 and 2400e family but operates with reduced CPU clock speeds. Specifically, the system-on-chip includes three Prime cores reaching up to 2.78 GHz, three performance cores up to 2.3 GHz, and four efficiency cores up to 1.82 GHz. This configuration maintains a deca-core architecture identical to the Exynos 2400 and 2400e, yet the lower clock rates differentiate it for non-flagship use. Such adjustments likely utilize lower-bin variants of the Exynos 2400 family chips, allowing Samsung to repurpose existing components effectively in a mid-tier device.

Beyond these details, no further specifications for the Galaxy A77 have surfaced. The model is anticipated to debut around March, coinciding with the Galaxy A57, which underwent its own Geekbench test earlier today. Additional information on the A77 is expected in the lead-up to this timeline.
