This release represents the second firmware update since Apple initiated its public beta program for AirPods earlier this summer. The beta program streamlines the installation process for users wishing to test pre-release firmware versions. The previous version, 8A5324b, was released in July.
The new software introduces several iOS 26 features for evaluation. Key features include automatic audio pausing when the user falls asleep, aiming to conserve battery life and prevent disruptions. Another notable feature is studio-quality audio recording, potentially enhancing the audio fidelity of recordings made using AirPods. Currently, these changes are exclusively available for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4.
