YouTube TV is issuing a $20 credit to subscribers affected by the ongoing Disney network blackout, confirmed by a YouTube spokesperson to TechCrunch after Variety first reported the development.
The credit, for subscribers who have been without ESPN, ABC, and other Disney channels for over a week, can be applied to their next billing statement. Instructions for applying the credit are being delivered via email to subscribers.
Disney’s channels were removed from the subscription TV service on October 31. YouTube indicates that channel restoration will occur within hours should a new agreement be reached. The dispute centers on pricing, with YouTube criticizing a “supposed price hike” by Disney. Disney states YouTube is “refusing to pay fair rates for our channels.”
This follows a 2022 dispute between the subscription TV service and Disney, which resulted in YouTube TV offering customers a $15 credit after Disney programming was unavailable for a single day.
