The upcoming OnePlus 15 will launch with a 1.5K resolution display, a specification downgrade from previous models. OnePlus attributed the change to technical constraints, stating a higher resolution was not feasible with the device’s increased 165Hz refresh rate.
This screen resolution is a reduction from the QHD+ (2K) panels featured in earlier OnePlus flagships like the OnePlus 13. In a corresponding change, the OnePlus 15’s refresh rate will be increased to 165Hz, an upgrade over the 120Hz rate on the OnePlus 13. The company explained its rationale for the lower resolution by stating that it is not technically feasible to implement a QHD+ screen that also operates at a 165Hz refresh rate.
While the display specifications have been confirmed, earlier reports have detailed other anticipated hardware for the OnePlus 15. These reports indicate the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The device is also expected to include a large battery with fast-charging capabilities along with a triple-camera system on its rear.
