Apple plans to announce updated versions of its iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and 14-inch MacBook Pro this week. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the products will feature the M5 chip and be revealed through press releases instead of a formal event.
Gurman stated in his “Power On” newsletter that Apple will not hold a media event for the launches. The company is expected to issue press releases on the Apple Newsroom website, possibly accompanied by short promotional videos on YouTube. The timing of these announcements could be influenced by public holidays, as Monday is Columbus Day in the United States and Thanksgiving in Canada, potentially pushing the releases to Tuesday or later in the week.
iPad Pro
Details of the next iPad Pro emerged from unboxing videos originating in Russia. The videos confirmed the device will contain the M5 chip and feature an increased minimum of 12 GB of RAM. While no major design changes were visible, the “iPad Pro” inscription on the back of the device has been removed. A rumor suggested new models would have two front cameras for video calls in portrait and landscape modes, but the videos showed no evidence of a second camera, leaving this feature unconfirmed.
Geekbench 6 results from one video detailed the M5 chip’s performance. The chip retains a 9-core CPU with three performance cores and six efficiency cores. Compared to the M4 chip in the current iPad Pro, the M5 is shown to offer up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance. The graphics processing unit is also upgraded, with results indicating up to 36% faster GPU performance, outlining specific processing and graphical improvements for the new tablet.
Vision Pro
An updated Vision Pro is also expected to receive the M5 chip, though an earlier rumor had suggested an M4. There has been discussion of an R2 chip for improved input processing, but reports link that component to TSMC’s 2nm process, which is not expected in Apple products until the second half of next year. Apple is anticipated to include a more comfortable “Dual Knit Band” head strap in the box and may offer the headset in a Space Black color. FCC documents made public in error show the device will continue to support Wi-Fi 6, not Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7.
It is not known if these changes are enough for Apple to market the device as a second-generation model. Recent reports indicated that Apple suspended development of a full next-generation Vision Pro and a lighter, lower-cost “Vision Air” model. The company is reportedly redirecting its focus to developing smart glasses.
MacBook Pro
Gurman reported that a base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip is “ready for launch.” AppleInsider previously noted this base M5 model would be released before higher-end versions with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are expected in early 2026. No significant changes are anticipated beyond the new processor. Substantial upgrades are rumored for models two generations away, including an OLED display, a touchscreen, a thinner design, built-in cellular connectivity, and M6 chips made with TSMC’s 2nm process.
Regarding other products, Gurman stated that new models of the Apple TV, HomePod mini, and AirTag remain “still very much on the road map,” but he did not provide new timing for their release. He also expects several other launches early next year, including new versions of the entry-level iPad, iPad Air, Studio Display, and MacBook Air. A new iPhone 17e is also expected within that timeframe.
