Apple is expected to release more than five new products in October, following a September launch event. Rumors indicate forthcoming updates to the company’s streaming device, smart speaker, professional tablet, tracking accessory, and mixed-reality headset product lines.
A new Apple TV 4K is anticipated, marking the first update to the device in three years. The current model operates on an A15 Bionic chip, and the new version is rumored to feature a significant processor upgrade to the A17 Pro chip. This update is also expected to incorporate support for Apple Intelligence, the company’s new suite of artificial intelligence features. Further hardware changes reportedly include the integration of Apple’s new N1 wireless chip, designed to enhance connectivity performance. A potential addition is a built-in Center Stage camera, a feature that uses machine learning to automatically keep users framed during video calls. The release of this updated model occurs as Apple faces increased competition in the streaming device market from products offered by Google and Amazon.
In addition to the Apple TV, a second home product, the HomePod mini 2, is also slated for an October release. The original HomePod mini was introduced in November 2020 and has not received a hardware update since its debut. The second-generation device is expected to integrate Apple Intelligence capabilities and the new N1 wireless chip, similar to the rumored Apple TV 4K. Reports also suggest the HomePod mini 2 will feature unspecified audio-quality improvements. An updated Ultra Wideband chip is another anticipated enhancement, which could improve spatial awareness and interactions with other UWB-equipped devices. The external design and core functionality are expected to remain largely unchanged from the current model.
An M5 iPad Pro is also expected to be announced. This follows last year’s significant update, which introduced a tandem OLED display, a thinner chassis, new accessories, and the M4 chip. The upcoming release is characterized as a “spec-bump,” focusing on internal component upgrades rather than a major redesign. The primary change will be the inclusion of the new M5 processor. The device will likely also contain the N1 wireless chip. Memory configurations are expected to be 12 GB of RAM on some models and 16 GB on others. Another possible hardware change includes the addition of dual front-facing cameras. There is also consideration that Apple might introduce its C1X modem to the cellular models of the iPad Pro, a component that has so far been exclusive to the company’s iPhones.
The AirTag personal item tracker is also due for a successor, with AirTag 2 anticipated more than four years after the original’s debut. The new version is rumored to feature three main upgrades. These include:
- A new Ultra Wideband chip for more precise location tracking.
- An improved focus on privacy features to address concerns associated with the original device.
- An enhanced precision finding capability with a greater operational range.
Beyond these internal improvements, the AirTag 2 is expected to retain a similar physical appearance and operational method to its predecessor.
A new version of the Apple Vision Pro, which launched in early 2024, is also rumored. The successor, potentially named Vision Pro 2, is expected to feature an M5 or M4 chip. Other rumored changes include a redesigned head strap intended to provide greater comfort for users and the possibility of a black finish option. The overall form factor and feature set are expected to remain consistent with the first-generation model. Apple is also reportedly developing a lighter and less expensive model, which may be called “Apple Vision Air,” though its release is not expected for another one to two years.
Other potential October launches fall into a “wildcard” category. Historically, Apple has released new MacBook Pro models during this time frame. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has reported that the M5 MacBook Pro could be delayed until early 2026. However, more recent reports from Gurman suggest a fall launch remains a possibility. This is supported by a recent FCC filing that appears to show evidence of an M5 MacBook Pro, which can indicate an imminent release. Gurman’s reporting also mentioned the potential for two new Mac displays, with one or both positioned as successors to the current Studio Display.
A list of popular iPhone accessories was also noted, which includes the AirPods Pro 3, a MagSafe Car Mount, a HomeKit smart plug 4-pack, a 10-year AirTag battery case 2-pack, and a 100W USB-C fast charging power adapter.
