QUBT sells EmuCore to auto maker and quantum system to US bank

QUBT’s $332 million U.S. bank order deploys a quantum communication system for secure data transmission and authentication.

Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT) has announced two significant sales of its quantum technology solutions.

In the second quarter of 2025, the company sold its EmuCore reservoir computing device to a major global automotive manufacturer for edge machine learning applications. In July 2025, QUBT also secured a $332 million purchase order from a top-five U.S. bank for a quantum communication system to be used in cybersecurity testing.

EmuCore device to power edge computing in the auto industry

The EmuCore is a low-power, secure platform built on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. It is designed for machine learning tasks in edge environments, where processing data closer to its source is critical. The automotive manufacturer will use the device to explore edge computing applications such as:

  • Real-time data analysis for autonomous driving features.

The sale demonstrates the practical application of QUBT’s reservoir computing technology, a neuromorphic approach that simplifies the training of neural networks. It also opens the door for broader adoption of the company’s more advanced photonic reservoir computing units, which use light-based processing to increase speed and efficiency.

Quantum communication system to enhance cybersecurity at a top U.S. bank

The $332 million deal with a major U.S. bank marks QUBT’s first commercial sale of quantum solutions in the United States. The bank will deploy a quantum communication system for secure data transmission. The system, which is housed in rack-mountable hardware for easy integration into existing data centers, generates entangled photons to secure data transmitted over fiber-optic networks.

The technology provides both quantum encryption to protect against eavesdropping and QUBT’s patented quantum authentication to prevent impersonation attacks.

The bank will use the system to establish a new Cybersecurity Quantum Optics Lab focused on testing and evaluating emerging quantum security tools, including:

  • Quantum key distribution for secure cryptographic key sharing.
  • Quantum authentication for user verification.
  • Quantum random number generation for stronger encryption.
