Apple has introduced iPhone Air, the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever at just 5.6mm, featuring a titanium frame, a new plateau architecture for durability, a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display, and the latest Apple silicon for performance and all-day battery life.
Breakthrough titanium design
iPhone Air combines a grade 5 titanium frame with a precision-milled back plateau that houses the cameras, Apple silicon, and speakers. This new design maximizes internal space for the battery while keeping the device thin and light.
Both the front and back are protected with Ceramic Shield 2, offering 3x better scratch resistance and 4x better crack resistance compared to earlier iPhones. The frame meets Apple’s highest bend strength requirements, making iPhone Air more durable than any previous model.
Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion
The 6.5-inch OLED panel supports ProMotion with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, Always-On functionality, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits — the brightest on any iPhone.
Anti-reflection coating improves outdoor readability with 2x better contrast.
Advanced camera systems
The new 18MP Center Stage front camera introduces a square sensor with a wider field of view, allowing selfies in portrait or landscape orientation without rotating the phone. AI expands the frame automatically for group shots and stabilizes 4K HDR video. Dual Capture enables simultaneous recording with front and rear cameras.
On the back, similar to the iPhone 17, a 48MP Fusion main camera supports multiple focal lengths, including 28mm and 35mm, with improved low-light performance. A 2x telephoto option and updated Photonic Engine deliver more lifelike detail and color. Portraits now include Focus Control, allowing depth adjustments in the Photos app after capture. Video recording supports 4K60 fps with Dolby Vision, Spatial Audio, Action mode, and wind noise reduction.
Performance powered by Apple silicon
iPhone Air is driven by the new A19 Pro chip with a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and neural accelerators integrated into each GPU core, delivering up to 3x faster peak GPU compute.
The device also includes Apple’s N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, and the C1X modem for faster cellular performance with 30% less power usage.
All-day battery life and Adaptive Power Mode
Thanks to its redesigned internal architecture, iPhone Air houses a larger battery while remaining ultra-thin.
Software optimizations and Apple silicon efficiency enable all-day use. A new Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26 learns user habits and conserves power when needed.
eSIM-only design
iPhone Air eliminates the physical SIM tray, supporting eSIM with more than 500 carriers worldwide. eSIM provides stronger security, easier travel setup, and prevents physical SIM theft.
Colors, storage, and availability
iPhone Air comes in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, starting at 256GB and scaling up to 1TB. Pre-orders begin September 12, with availability on September 19.
Pricing starts at $999 in the U.S.
