Apple rolls out public beta 5 for tvOS 26 and more

Apple’s latest public beta release accelerates testing timelines, cutting the wait between developer and public betas from days to just hours.

Apple has unveiled public beta 5 for tvOS 26 and other operating systems, marking a late-stage development in the company’s summer testing cycle. The release provides users an opportunity to test forthcoming updates ahead of their official launch.

Prior to the public beta 5 release, Apple issued developer beta 8 updates for iOS 26, watchOS 26, and macOS Tahoe. Historically, the public beta versions were released several days after the developer versions. However, Apple has reduced this timeframe to just a few hours in recent releases.

Public beta 5 encompasses tvOS 26, HomePod 26, and other unreleased Apple updates. The new beta incorporates the same modifications and enhancements found in developer beta 8, with a concentration on improving overall stability and performance across devices. Apple is expected to publicly release these updates in mid-September.

Several accessories have been noted for Apple TV and Home devices, including an anti-slip silicone case for the Siri Remote that is AirTag compatible, and TotalMount, designed for Apple TV mounting. The AirPods Pro 2 are also listed (now $169, down from $249), along with a HomeKit Garage Door Opener, and the TP-Link Tapo 2K camera with HomeKit Secure Video.
