Google has unveiled PixelSnap, a magnetic accessory system designed for its new Pixel 10 series, mirroring a similar approach introduced by Apple several years prior. The announcement positions Google to compete directly in the market for magnetically attached accessories.

The launch of PixelSnap follows Apple’s introduction of MagSafe accessories with the iPhone 12 in 2020. Google’s PixelSnap aims to provide similar functionality, enabling users to attach various accessories to their devices magnetically. The company specified that PixelSnap facilitates the attachment of wireless chargers, stands, grips, and other accessories to the Pixel 10 series phones.

Google is also releasing a range of PixelSnap cases and accessories designed to work with the new system. Among these accessories is a PixelSnap Ring Stand, which attaches to the phone and includes a ring that can be pulled out to function as a stand. This accessory allows the phone to be propped up for viewing content or other purposes.

The new Pixel devices are compatible with the Qi2 wireless charging standard. The Pixel 10 Pro XL supports 25W wireless charging. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Fold models support 15W wireless charging. Google is introducing a PixelSnap charger, available with or without an optional stand. The PixelSnap charger permits users to charge their phone lying flat or to utilize the stand for charging while using the device or displaying home control widgets.

Pricing for the PixelSnap ecosystem elements was also detailed. PixelSnap cases will start at $49.99. The PixelSnap Ring Stand is priced at $29.99. The standard PixelSnap charger will retail for $39.99, while the PixelSnap charger bundled with a stand will cost $69.99.

Google has confirmed that the Pixel 10 series phones are compatible with a range of accessories, including car mounts, chargers, and products from “Made for Google” partners. The devices are also compatible with select MagSafe accessories, broadening the range of available options for users.
