After a prolonged period of silence, Bethesda has shared new details about The Elder Scrolls VI through an auction that allows one fan to appear in the game as an NPC, aimed at raising funds for the Make-A-Wish charity.
Bethesda reveals new details about The Elder Scrolls VI auction
This auction, announced today, gives the winning bidder the opportunity to work directly with Bethesda Game Studios to create a character that will be featured in The Elder Scrolls VI. The auction description states, “Calling all gamers and fantasy fans! This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows you to immortalize yourself in one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time, The Elder Scrolls VI. With this exclusive experience, you’ll work with the developers to create a custom character that will appear in the game, leaving your mark on the legendary franchise.”
The auction is set to conclude on February 22, 2025, with bids already exceeding $7,000 at the time of this writing. While this announcement is not a major update on the game itself, it indicates that The Elder Scrolls VI is still in development.
Nvidia’s AI miscalculation means more RTX 5090s for gamers
Currently, Bethesda has not disclosed a release date for The Elder Scrolls VI. It is confirmed that the game will be available on Xbox and PC platforms upon its release. Furthermore, given Microsoft’s strategy of making its games available on multiple hardware, there is a significant possibility that the game will also appear on PlayStation platforms.
The Elder Scrolls VI was officially announced at E3 2018 with a brief teaser trailer, confirming it was in pre-production at Bethesda Game Studios. Todd Howard, Bethesda’s game director, has stated that The Elder Scrolls VI will be Bethesda’s next release, to be followed by Fallout 5.
In a 2023 interview with GQ, when asked whether he regretted announcing The Elder Scrolls VI so long ago, Howard commented, “I have asked myself that a lot. I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually.” He further indicated a desire to create the ultimate fantasy-world simulator, emphasizing the various ways to achieve this goal as time progresses.
The public can participate in the auction for the NPC opportunity on the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic auction page.
