in Data Natives, Events, News

A global community of data science and technology enthusiasts will gather in Berlin in November for the third Data Natives conference.

Europe’s premier event for the data-driven generation, Data Natives is the meeting point for some of the greatest minds in data science, technology, and business.

More than 1500 people will gather, from November 15-17, to hear from some of the world’s leading experts and influencers in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and the Internet of Things (IoT).

“The purpose of Data Natives is to unite the data-driven generation, to spark conversations about the power of technology and to empower people to use it,” says conference founder Elena Poughia.

This year, Data Natives has 110 speakers, 18 panel discussions, 12 workshops and more than 70 talks with a focus on data-driven technologies and how they are driving innovation in society.

Data Natives Berlin 2017 will be close to double the size of last year’s event, which is a positive sign for Europe’s burgeoning data science and start-up scenes.

“We are trying to unite the European data science, tech, and start-up ecosystems to foster and support the level of innovation we see coming out of Silicon Valley and the wider United States,” Poughia says.

“This is why we have more intimate workshops and encourage networking and collaboration. It’s about building community.”

The conference will explore how big data is driving innovation and disruption in mobility, government, health, and automotive technologies, which impact on our lives every day.

“Technology is penetrating our lives more and more,” Poughia says.

“It’s important to understand how our data is used online, how hospitals will be revolutionized with keyboardless systems, how drones will be used in healthcare, how governments are going to digitalize all public information, and how blockchain will change the world with paperless money.

“These are the issues that will be explored at Data Natives 2017.”

Data Natives invited four renowned industry leaders to curate the content and choose the line-up of visionary speakers for this year’s conference.

One of the keynote speakers is data scientist and astrophysicist, Kirk Borne, who is considered one of the world’s foremost influencers in big data, AI, and machine learning.

Borne is currently the principal data scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton, a global management and technology consulting firm that provides services to Fortune 500 companies, governments and non-profits.

He also spent close to 20 years supporting NASA projects, including the Hubble Space Telescope, Astronomy Data Center, and the Space Science Data Operations Office.

Influencer, entrepreneur, and start-up consultant Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino, director of Designswarm, will speak about the Internet of Things and how it’s redefining our relationship with the world around us.

And Suzy Moat, associate professor of behavioral science at Warwick Business School (recently featured on Wired) will talk about her research into the ability of AI to understand human subjectivity.

Data Natives Berlin 2017 will build on successful conferences in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Berlin, Germany, last year, delivering more forward-thinking ideas to inspire innovation and disrupt the status quo.
