Sumo Logic, the cloud-based log management and analytics service provider, has landed a new CEO and President. The man in question is industry veteran and former Sr. Vice President and General Manager, Cloud Management Business Unit for VMware, Ramin Sayar.
To top that, they have also managed more than 100% sequential quarter bookings growth, grown to over 500 customers and set up a robust ecosystem of partnerships with industry’s top innovators in cloud, big data, DevOps and machine learning including AWS, Akamai, Chef, SaltStack and ServiceNow. The subject of a separate announcement today, the company also announced its vision for modernizing the backbone of the cloud economy with a utility model for data insights.
“I am incredibly excited to have Ramin leading Sumo Logic. Sumo is in a massive market—and already significantly ahead of any other cloud provider for machine data analytics. Ramin’s domain experience will immediately scale Sumo’s product insight, strategy and partner ecosystem,” said Joseph Ansanelli, partner at Greylock Partners.
“Perhaps most importantly, Ramin is a natural fit with the founding team. He is a company builder to the core and shares the spirit and dedication of a founder. We are increasingly confident of Sumo’s rise as the dominant player in this space,” he further added.
At VMware, Sayar created the cloud management vision, oversaw the development of the products and go-to-market strategy and built the the fastest growing business unit with nearly $1 billion in revenue which established VMware as the leading virtualization and cloud management vendor.
“The cloud-native, purpose built analytics platform from Sumo Logic is the bridge for companies to accelerate their journey to the cloud and, more importantly, is enabling a new class of analytics that were previously unaffordable or unattainable with legacy, disparate on-premises approaches,” said Mr. Sayar.
Having previously held a variety of key product executive and leadership roles at companies such as HP Software, Tibco Software, iPlanet, AOL and Netscape, and with 20 years of industry experience, Sayar’s appointment will add to Sumo Logic’s existing market traction.
The tailor made Sumo Logic platform is a cloud service that consolidates all data streams and makes them useful which is available in a pay-for-what-you-use utility model. Acting as a hub for the New IT, it eliminates silos between point solutions as well as structured and unstructured data, enabling visibility and transparency that modern DevOps, IT Ops and Security Ops teams require.
